WHO IS SENATOR TERRELL MCKINNEY? Senator McKinney was born and raised in Omaha, but District 11 has always been my home. He has five siblings, two brothers, and three sisters. He also wears many hats but the number one job he has is being a father to his twelve-year-old daughter Sana'a. Outside of his legislative duties he primarily conitinues to do work in the community, attends community events and meetings, coaching wrestling at Omaha North Magnet High School and for Ready RP Nationals Wrestling and he IS working to finish law school at Creighton University.
WHY DID HE RUN? Senator McKinneyran to represent District 11 in the Nebraska State Legislature because as a young Black man he believed that he didn't have the luxury to wait for change, nor sit out another election. After all, it was Frederick Douglass who once said, “Power Concedes Nothing Without Struggle.” District 11 is located in Historic North Omaha, which has issues that have persisted since his childhood. He is my committed to being one with our community such that he has brought the voices of our community with him to Lincoln. Our state legislature had and still does more young voices, especially from underserved communities, to give proper attention to 21st-century challenges unapologetically.
